What ShelfShares stores

Your books, reading status, goals, and shelf lists live in the app on your devices. Sync uses your personal iCloud account via Apple CloudKit. We don’t run a separate ShelfShares login or advertising profile.

Shared shelves

When you invite someone to a shared shelf, Apple’s CloudKit sharing delivers that shelf’s book list to participants you choose. Your private “My Shelf” statuses and dates stay on your devices; a shared shelf does not publish who finished what.

Book search

Looking up covers and metadata may contact third-party book providers (for example Open Library). Queries go to those services so results can load — not to a ShelfShares analytics pipeline.
